Stefano Marzano has been Chief Design Officer of Electrolux since January 2012. Marzano is a part of Group Management and leads the new Group staff function gathering all the design related competencies in the Group.
Before joining Electrolux, Stefano Marzano, had a long career at Royal Philips Electronics. In 1991-2011 he served as Chief Design Officer in Philips.
In 2005, Businessweek named Marzano one of four global “Best Leaders: Innovators.” In 2001 he was awarded the World Technology Award for Design by the World Technology Network.
Until 1998 Marzano was a Professor at the Domus Academy in Milan, and a member of the Academy’s Strategic Board. In 1999-2001 he was a Visiting Professor at the polytechnic institute in Milan, Politecnico di Milano. He chairs the Supervisory Board at the Faculty of Industrial Design at the Technical University in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, and is Founding Dean of THNK, The Amsterdam School of Creative Leadership. Marzano is a member of the European Design Leadership Board.
Marzano has received honorary doctorates in design from the Sapienza University of Rome and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Marzano is also the author and editor of several books on design, such as Television at the Crossroads (1994), Vision of the Future (1996), City, People, Light (1997), Creating Value by Design: Thoughts and Facts (1998), Past Tense, Future Sense: Competing through Creativity – 80 Years of Design at Philips (2005), and (with Emile Aarts) The New Everyday: Views on Ambient Intelligence (2003).
Stefano Marzano was born in Italy in 1950. He holds a Doctorate in architecture from the Politecnico di Milano.
