iF – International Forum Design Hannover

Receiving a pat on the back from the world’s leading awards is not what we work for, but it sure feels good. Below are some of the moments of recognition given to Electrolux.

Design that makes an impact

  • Recognized for their design excellence, brand values, functionality, and innovation, two Electrolux cleaners won the international iF product design award. The two vacuum cleaners, the second generation Ergorapido and the Energica, represent the Electrolux Group’s assertive and bold design DNA. The iF product design award is one of the world’s leading design awards. More than 2,000 products from around 35 nations are judged by renowned experts every year in Hannover, Germany, with the best of them receiving an iF seal of outstanding design quality.
  • Two AEG-Electrolux products, the food center with wine cellar and the A+ frost free integrated freezer, were awarded the prestigious IF Design Award 2008. Over 2,800 entries from 39 countries competed for the international IF Design Award, organized by the International Forum Design in Hannover, Germany.
  • In recognition for their design excellence and innovation, Electrolux Energica corded stick cleaner and the Electrolux Ergorapido 2-in-1 battery stick cleaner received the international reddot Design Award 2008.
  • The AEG-Electrolux-branded Favorite dishwasher and the Electrolux-branded Wine Keeper have been recognized for their excellence in product design in the 50th edition of the red dot design award competition, one of the world’s largest and most prestigious design competitions where more than 4,000 entries from 40 countries competed. The selection criteria included innovation, practicality, quality, symbolic and emotional content, as well as ergonomics and ecological compatibility.
  • Our 4Springs Tap secured a 2009 Green Good Design Award from the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture. This award series emphasizes sustainable design and highlights companies on its cutting edge. 4Springs creates micro-filtered, chilled and carbonated drinking water. By removing the need to buy bottled water, it helps reduce the 200,000 tons of CO2 emitted every year from the production and transportation of PET bottles across Europe.
  • The Turbo Acqua Jet was awarded UNESCO’s prestigious Planeta Casa Award in the home appliances category in 2010. Developed in Brazil by our Industrial Design Center, the Turbo Acqua Jet is a high-capacity washing machine, which uses centrifugal force to push laundry to its walls, where jets of water and soap penetrate the fibers. Dirt and stains are removed more effectively and water use has been reduced by 40%.
  • Our Australian-designed and manufactured 2008 Refrigeration Collection was singled out by Standards Australia, winning the 2009 Award for Excellence in Sustainable Design at the International Design Awards. All 14 models in the range use Isobutane, a non-synthetic refrigerant with a shorter life in the atmosphere, and are highly energy-efficient, using 49% less energy than 10-year-old models of equivalent capacity.
  • In March 2010, AEG-Electrolux Super Eco Washing Machine won the UK’s prestigious KBB Review Industry Award for Environmental Innovation.

Products that inspire

  • The Electrolux Inspiro has been voted one of six Good Housekeeping Institute Outstanding Products of the Year, winning a prestigious Good Housekeeping Consumer Award 2008 in the GHI Tried & Tested Category. Good Housekeeping Institute tests hundreds of products every year – more than 600 in 2008 alone. Of all these, only six products were picked as Award Winners for 2008 in this category. The Electrolux Inspiro EOC69400X single oven launched in Sept 08 uses heat management technology and a database of thousands of recipes to automatically cook dishes.
